HOW IT WORKS
Wave Generation
The Surf System relies on a series of air-pressure chambers (essentially large concrete chambers) positioned along the rear side of the lagoon. Each chamber has an air valve connected to a series of large fans or blowers. By rapidly pushing or pulling air, it creates a pressure differential over the water surface. That sudden change in air pressure displaces the water below, producing a pulse that propagates outward as a wave.
SurfLoch’s patented system uses state of the art motion control system to move air with both pressure and vacuum – providing infinite control over the wave when compared to other pneumatic systems.

SurfLoch pushes and pulls the water, the same as high and low pressure systems do in the open ocean.

The software allows millisecond control of valves and servo’s, which equates to more accurate control of the movement of water – and therefore waves.
No Moving Parts in The Water
As the system runs on air, all of the equipment that controls this movement is dry and contained within the machine rooms, making access for monitoring and service simple and inexpensive. Water is also unforgiving, so keeping the parts out of the water result in them being used as intended, in a commercial setting.
Barrels Without a Reef
SurfLoch’s motion control system, build around the WaveWear interface, allow infinite control of the type of wave created. We’ve been able to produce barrels on a flat bottom pool – bathymetry is part of the solution, but not critical.
